It's only Friday and I long to be at church. I long for the Worship and Word. Although I daily spend much time in the Word and listening to Worship music, it is like snacking all week and longing for the Sunday buffet. It's mouth-watering just to think about it. And of course, who wants to eat alone? The fellowship is the topping on the cake.
God delights in our love to be with Him and His children. He delights in our love for His Word and our desire to Worship Him. John 4:23-24 says "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth."
My favorite book and chapter in the whole bible is Psalm 119. It is the longest chapter in the bible and filled with such delight in learning God's Word. Verse 35 says "Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight."
Verse 108 says "Accept, oh Lord, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws." God wants us to willingly delight in praising Him and learning how to obey Him. What good is it if we come to church, go through the motions of service, and all the while wishing we were somewhere else? Where are the "true worshippers", those who delight in praising His name; those who delight in filling up with the Word?
For He is worthy of all our praise. He is worthy of all our time. Let's get excited about Sunday! Let's get excited about God!
